Program Information
The University of Southern California Law School invites you to participate in its 4 week summer program, the "Summer Law & English" Program. The 2010 Summer Law & English program will be held July 12, 2010 - August 6, 2010. Our program is a unique course designed for international lawyers, corporate legal counsel, business professionals, government officials, and law students who would like to learn about the American legal system while improving their English ability.
Our summer law program is designed primarily for those who have earned or will earn their first law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) outside of the United States and for students of all levels of English fluency. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the start date of the program to enroll.
Program Highlights
- Build a foundation of basic American law and business law
- Receive essential information about the fundamental areas of law as they are practiced in the United States
- Improve English fluency through debate, discussion and analysis of current legal topics and cases
- Legal English classes taught by ESL instructors from the USC Language Academy complement the law curriculum and include legal vocabulary and writing, presentation and negotiation skills
- Specializing legal writing sessions teach students how to write briefs and memos
- Prepare future LL.M. students for law school by practicing exam writing skills
- Network with other legal and business professionals from around the globe
- Prepare for an LL.M. degree
