Online Application for the 2008 Summer Law & English Program

The Summer Law & English Program is a non-degree program. No university degree will be granted in connection with the program. Completion of the Summer Law & English Program does not guarantee admission to the USC LL.M. Program. Applicants must be at least 17 years old to enroll. We do not require the TOEFL score, however for English placement purposes, please send us a copy of your score if you have previously taken this exam.

Application Deadline: Completed applications must be postmarked by May 1st of the desired year of enrollment. Applications postmarked after the May 1st deadline will be considered upon availability.

Visa Information

If you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have not been granted political asylum, an I-20 Form from USC is required to apply for a student visa. You must send a copy of your passport and copies of your dependent(s) if applicable. Please check at least one of the items below:

I need an I-20 Form for an F-1 student visa.

 


I need an I-20 Form for an F-1 student visa from USC, and I plan to transfer-out to another university following the summer Law & English Program (LL.M. Program).


I do not need an I-20 Form.


I have an F-1 visa from another school and would like to transfer-in to USC. Please indicate the name of your school and your current program end date : MM/DD/YYYY


I have an I-20 Form from USC and I plan to transfer my I-20 to the Summer Law & English Program.


My family will accompany me on F-2 visas and will need I-20 Forms.


Financial Support Documentation

You must provide a Financial Statement in English showing a minimum of $5,500 (USD). If you have already submitted financial support documentation with your application to one of our master's programs, it is not required for you to re-submit the documentation. If you need an I-20 Form, please check at least one of the items below (and if you do not need an I-20, do not complete this section):

I am self-sponsored. I will send a copy of my bank statement(s).


I am sponsored by an organization. I will send a letter on my sponsoring organization letterhead, signed by a representative of my sponsoring organization, which specifically states the amount of financial support to be given.


I am sponsored by an individual. I will send a letter, signed by that individual, which indicates their relationship to me (e.g. relative, friend or other) and specifically states the amount of financial support to be given. I will also send a bank statement(s) from that individual.


I plan to use my own funds to supplement my sponsor's support. I will also include with the above materials a copy of my bank statements(s).


Note: If you are bringing your spouse and/or dependents, then you must add an additional $500 for your spouse and $250 for each child to the minimum amount on your Financial Support Documentation.

Housing Request

If yes, you must submit a $100 Housing Application Fee with your other program fees.

Housing fees listed below are per person and are for the 4 weeks of the Summer Law & English Program. Meals are not included in housing fees. The following are for informational purposes only and will not be charged to your credit card upon form submission.

  • Shared Apartment ($1,350/person)
  • Private Apartment ($1,950/person)
  • Family Apartment ($1,350/adult (18 years or older))

If housing is full, we will notify you and ask if you wish to be placed on a waiting list or if you would like to cancel your reservation (in which case your housing fee is refundable). All housing prices are estimated. USC Housing prices may change without notice. All USC apartments are non-smoking facilities.

Program Application Fee (non-refundable)
  • Upon admission to our Summer Law & English Program, we will send you an official admissions letter which will include instructions on how to sumit your payment for the additional program fees (University fee, Tuition fee, Housing application fee and Housing fees).
  • Application fee for the Summer Law & English Program - $100 (USD)

Estimation of Expenses

The estimated average expenses for the Summer Law & English Program are $6,100. This includes $1,800 for housing and other living expenses and $4,300 for tuition and fees. Add an additional $500 per month for your spouse and $250 per month for each child. These expenses do not assume the student will own and operate a car while at USC.
